The Imperial version of the famous German brewery: Beer elected best beer in the world in the 2011 WBA!

Our Beer Master Says

First thing you need to know about this beer is that it was elected Best beer in the Wolrd in 2011 and best Wheat Beer in the 2012 World Beer Awards. This is the proper way to introduce this excellent beer from Bayern featuring rich and full flavours. The Weihenstephaner Vitus is produced by the oldest brewery still in business in the world: the Bayerische Staatsbrauerein Weihenstephan, running since 1040! It is therefore brewed according to the German Purity Law. Their ancestral know-how has been awarded many times, and this timeless beer hasn't finished delighting every palate on its way.

The Weihenstephaner Vitus is a beer brewed with barley malt and wheat, it pours a dark amber robe with a very impressive head. This beer is not filtrated before bottling and features a slightly cloudy robe due to the use of wheat. It challenges the nose with very fine aromas of fruit and spices, one can easily notice the presence of yeast too.

Amazing aromas of citrus fruits and banana are among the spicy hints of yeast in this olfatory whole. In the mouth, the sharp entrance is smoothed by the presence of wheat. Nice and very fruity flavours of banana and citrus fruits mix up with the sightly acidic flavours of lemon while yeast provides the beer with notes reminiscent of cloves. The aftertase dries progressively and offers some hints of bitterness. The alcohol, despite the fact that this wheat beer features a 7,7° ABV, is barely noticeable in this finely balanced beer.
