A decade ago, two amateur brewers -a physics teacher and his childhood friend- decided to go pro. Having spent time experimenting in the kitchen, their mission-statement was based on two key principles: Innovation and Quality. This work-ethic payed dividends when, in 2008, the brewery won the title of Best Brewery in Denmark.

In the meantime, founding partner Kristian Keller left the business to pursue his career as a journalist. Mikkel Borg Bjergso would continue to create ever more exciting and innovative recipes. Who can forget Mikkeller 1000 IBU?

Around this time he launched a new concept, the “Ghost Brewery”, to become an itinerant brewer, effectively travelling in the world to get his recipes brewed. Since then, Mikkeler has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned breweries, names like De Struise Brouwers, De Proef Brouwerij, Nogne and AleSmith. Mikkeller said from the beginning that their goal was to challenge the consumer tastes by reinventing existing styles. Undeniably, it is one of the best and most prolific breweries in the world today, having created more than 600 beers!
